Vandermeer was crunched in an awkward tackle shortly after the third quarter commenced.
There were fears the midfielder had suffered spinal damage.
He wasn't moved until the ambulance arrived after landing on his neck in the tackle.
Fortuantely for Vandermeer and the Swans, he was cleared of any spinal injury later on Saturday night, much to the relief of Swans coach Mark Doolan.
“It was definitely a sigh of relief when the news came through that there was no spinal damage,” he said.
“You never want to see that kind of thing happen, but at the same time you understand that it's a possibility whenever you walk out onto the field.”
Vandermeer is set to undergo a further MRI to assess the damage to his AC joint in the coming days.
