Wodonga Senior Secondary College has hosted 26 students from 12 schools across Vietnam over the past two weeks as part of their English immersion program.
Kate, who had her first visit to regional Australia, said the program meant she would consider returning for university studies.
“I get to experience a high school which is very different to mine,” she said.
“Back at my school it’s very theoretical, but here we ‘do’ it. In Vietnam we study how to cook but don’t do it ourselves – here we have a kitchen and we actually do it.
“Young people are also more independent and free to choose the career they want to choose.”
Eighteen-year-old Tracey Le, on the program for the fourth time, said she was now studying at the University of Melbourne.
“I kept seeing new things happening and kept wanting to come back,” she said.
