Davies recently returned to Darwin to work in the mines with Spider coach Joel Price unsure of his playing future.
“We thought he was right for the rest of the year but he got called back to do some work,” Price said.
“Hopefully he will be right for the last home and away game and finals.”
Howlong will also be without midfielder Steve Fouracre for two matches after he was outed by the tribunal earlier this week on a charge involving Rand-Walbundrie-Walla’s Justin Gordon.
“We were very disappointed with the outcome as a club,” Price said.
Howlong will be looking to defeat a side above it on the ladder for the first time this season when it takes on Jindera at Jindera on Saturday.
“That’s the challenge ahead of us,” Price said.
Jindera’s Zac Stuart remains in doubt for the match after receiving another heavy knock at Urana Road Oval last weekend.
