The latest Midnight Basketball Wodonga competition will begin on August 5 at Wodonga Sports and Leisure Centre.
Committee chair Belinda Fenn said last term’s program received positive feedback and organisers were now recruiting people to assist this time.
“Each night requires 15 volunteers who help with tasks like helping to serve dinner, setting up the workshop rooms, managing teams, scoring, refereeing and driving the buses,” she said.
Midnight Basketball is a national scheme for 12 to 18 year-old youths considered at risk that includes a hot dinner, life skills workshops, the tournament and bus transport home.
Volunteer Thomas Murphy said helping out on a Friday night had been really satisfying.
“It’s the best feeling seeing the young people smile, watch them have fun and enjoy themselves,” he said.
