The town’s resident police officer has been off work since around Easter last year and residents are understanding of the Leading Senior Constable’s circumstances.
But they remain upset no replacement has been forthcoming in the ensuing months, in particular peak periods of Easter and Christmas.
“We hope he is able to return to duty,” Ms Neville said.
“In the meantime, Victoria Police has indicated other police stations in the vicinity of Whitfield and King Valley are providing support and service to local residents.
“Every Victorian community deserves to feel safe and rely on their local police.”
