“I’m a country kid too from Tasmania,” Beams said.
“It’s important there is a pathway.
"For people to see the likes of Meg Lanning, Stefanie Taylor and Alex Blackwell, there is some amazing talent that is going to be here.
“And for them hopefully it’s the opportunity for them to say: ‘I want to be one of those players’”
Melbourne has recently signed Meg Lanning, Jess Cameron and Emma Kearney which will ensure the side remains in a force.
Sydney Thunder’s Naomi Stalenberg said she was looking forward to playing for points at Lavington.
Cricket Albury-Wodonga chairman Michael Erdeljac believes the matches will have huge spin-offs.
“It’s fantastic, but it’s not just for Albury-Wodonga,” Erdeljac said.
“Hopefully people from 100-kilometres away will get involved.”
