“Survive,” Maddy Wright said with a laugh.
She placed second in her first attempt at the 135km Wagga to Albury ride behind Specialized teammate Taryn Heather.
“We just kept checking in to check we were OK but we didn’t really have any tactics,” Heather said.

“It was a little bit dodgy at the start, had a bit of rain and a bit of wind, but it did clear up amazingly, there were a few patches of sunlight,” Wright said.
Specialized Women's Racing had a third representative, Kate Perry, among nearly 120 classic entries.

“You know, same team, so as long as one of us wins we're all pretty happy,” Wright said.
“I think we were both pretty stuffed,” Heather added.
