The sun emerged briefly late on Sunday afternoon but did little to help dry out the Border's rain-soaked fields.
After taking care of the Albury Hotspurs 5-0, Boomers coach Andrew Grove said wet-weather football was something all teams would simply have to get used to as finals approach.
“I can't really see a lot of these grounds fully recovering in time for the finals,” he said.
“The might dry out, depending on the weather, but a lot will still be pretty chopped up.
“Glen Park is about as good as it could be under the circumstances, but it's still pretty wet.
“The conditions will change the way every team plays, every team will make a few more mistakes.
“It affects the way the ball travels, we've scored goals and had goals scored against us because of it.
“It's all about minimising those mistakes.”
After going into half time with a narrow 1-0 lead over the Hotspurs, Grove said the Boomers proved they belong in the top four in the second half.
“It was pretty tight early in the game,” he said.
“We were playing OK, not fantastic.
“We haven't been great in the last few weeks, I challenged the boys to prove that they really belong in the top four.
“To their credit, they came out and did it well in the second half.”
Were it not for an own goal Hotspurs could have carried a clean sheet into the half, but when the teams re-emerged it was clear that the Hotspurs wouldn't be able to repeat their earlier upset win over the Boomers.
Grove and Nathan Stojanov netted braces to hand the home side a convincing win.
The only downside for Boomers was the loss of Sam Graetz.
The midfielder this season returned from an ACL, but his knee has flared up again and he will go in for scans during the week.
Grove said Graetz was unlikely to play again this season.
In other matches, the league's top six sides all recorded victories with three rounds to play before the pointy end of the season.
Myrtleford were far too good for Wodonga Heart thanks to a hat-trick from co-coach Matt Park.
The Savoys came away with a 7-1 win.
Two own goals cruelled the Wodonga Diamonds’ chances against Wangaratta as Adam Burchell banked a hat-trick of his own in the Red Devils’ 7-0 triumph.
Twin City defeated the improving Albury City 2-1, St Pats went down to Albury United 5-0 and Cobram Roar defeated fellow Cup contenders Melrose 2-0.
