City were cursed with injuries through the middle of the season, even dropping out of the top eight at one point, but have recovered to eighth place all-bar sealed.
It made the Wanderers’ 2-1 victory over them on Sunday all the more important, Wilhelm said.
“Albury City are one of the teams we could play early in the finals, it was good to play them know and get an idea of what we're up against,” he said.
“They'll push a few top sides, no doubt.
“We were down 1-0 at half time, I said to the boys in the sheds that we had to show a bit of character, cut out the negativity.
“We knew that if we could do that we'd get a result, and that was the way it panned out.”
Twin City face Albury United in a massive clash next weekend.
