Since debuting as a 16-year-old in 1998, Schirmer has been giving his all for the Hume league club.
“I’ve loved it,” Schirmer, who will play his 300th match against Holbrook on Saturday, said.
“I live out of town on a farm and footy gives me an excuse to come in and see the boys.
“I’ve been pretty lucky as well in that I think I’ve only missed five games.
“Four were through injury and the other was the birth of our first child.”
Schirmer, 34, played in Lockhart’s barnstorming 2003 premiership when the Demons came from the elimination final to defeat Holbrook in the decider.
He started his senior career under Shane Lenon and has had Phil Maunder, Michael Glanvill, Des Anthony, Mick Hewitt, Nathan McPherson, Steve Carroll, Dane Campbell, Chris Cerato and Jake Wooden as coaches.
“He’s been fantastic for Lockhart,” Lenon said.
“It’s a great effort.”
