The Bulldogs quickly moved on from the disappointment of a last-round loss to the Roos, which cost them the double chance, to progress to the second week of finals with a 10.2 (62) to 7.9 (51) win at Tarrawingee.
Just one point separated the sides at the final change but the Bulldogs kicked four goals straight in the last quarter to emerge victorious, despite having four less scoring shots for the day.
Former Wangaratta players Dan McCormick and Jordan Solimo stood tall for the Bulldogs against a determined Roos outfit, led by Sam Evans, Richard Castles and the ever-reliable Adam Williams.
