EVEN Boomers coach Steve Hayes conceded a Boomers championship was the most unlikely outcome of the three-way race for the senior women's title on Sunday.

But, thanks to their 3-2 triumph over Cobram and Albury City being held to a 0-0 draw by Wodonga Diamonds, Boomers claimed a memorable championship win.
Just one point separated them and City, with Cobram one point back again, finishing with a total of 52.
“We were under the pump early, we conceded two goals in five minutes,” Hayes said.
“We learnt from that, started to play in a slightly different way.
“Given the scenario, I think we were the least likely to win it.
“We had to defeat a team that was in good form, as well as have our fingers crossed that other results went our way.
“That's one competition done and dusted, there's another one that starts next weekend.”
Elsewhere, St Pats defeated Hotspurs 3-1, while Wangaratta drew with Myrtleford.
