Trinity Sullivan, the only Border player named in the squad, learned of her success late last month, the day before she turned 18.
The ACT Schoolgirls will play Western Sydney this weekend at Canberra Grammar School ahead of further contests against NSW Combined High Schools and a New Zealand college in coming weeks.
Sullivan attended two trial camps and also a Brumbies emerging talent camp where selectors were watching the final game.
“I just played it just like I would any other game,” she said.
“Played my hardest, not thinking that the selectors were there, just thinking I’ve got to do well because it was my last camp.”
The Albury High School year 12 student, who plays wing or back, comes from a rugby union family.
“I was born into it pretty much, I’m a born New Zealander, I moved here in 2012 and rugby’s pretty much a bible in that country,” she said.
“I wouldn’t have got anywhere without the support of the club and my family.”
Earlier this year Sullivan represented Southern Inland Rugby Union Country in a curtainraiser to a Brumbies clash.
This gave her a taste of playing on a special occasion, an experience she hopes will help this weekend.
“I’m still not sure what to expect, it’s a big difference to the normal games for Albury Steamers, but I think I’ll be fine,” she said.
