Albury outfit Brad Jones Racing is a having a consistent season with new signing Tim Slade winning two races but veteran Bright has hit a rough patch after a strong showing early in the year. 

The Team BOC driver heads to this weekend’s event in a positive frame of mind after a successful test day at Winton last week.

“We haven’t been happy with car in qualifying since round three and you don’t have to be far off to be down in the 12th to 17th range on the grid,” he said.

“We’ve been on the wrong side of a couple of tenths of a second, which makes it hard. It makes it hard strategy-wise, makes it hard first lap-wise.

“We had a good test last week and it was great to get a test in as we hadn’t had one since before the start of the year.

“We worked through a lot of stuff that we haven’t had the chance to do race meetings. I felt like we made a bit of ground so it will be interesting to see how it goes at Sydney this weekend.

“It’s always been a bit of a favourite.”

Brad Jones Racing will also be working hard to keep Tim Slade’s Freightliner in the top 10 of the championship and pushing towards the top five by season’s end.

The cars hit the track at Sydney Motorsport Park on Friday for practice, followed by races on Saturday and Sunday.
