The cars spun out of control in the crash in southbound lanes at Barnawartha about 12.30pm Thursday.
Wodonga Highway Patrol Acting Sergeant Owen Clarke said any crash at 110km/h would normally be serious so he was relieved to discover no injuries or fatalities.
Police will look into why the Queensland driver of the Kia Grand Carnival lost control.
“They’re still very shaken up at the moment, but we’ll also make inquiries as to where the car was parked,” Acting Sergeant Clarke said.
“They’re called emergency lanes for a reason, it’s not a parking area.”
Less than a week ago, another two-car collision in Wooragee resulted in two deaths and, on Thursday morning, a woman with a probationary licence lost control on a dirt road in Wodonga, crashing into two trees and rolling her car.
Police warned drivers to stay alert and passengers to ensure they were not distracted.
“We want to see no crashes, we want to see these things stop happening,” Acting Sergeant Clarke said.
“It’s quite impressive that these people have been able to get out of this as well as they have.”
