The South Australian indie folk singer and songwriter says she has amazing friends all over the world after years of touring and four years living in Canada and performing across North America – many have had a hand in her new album Saltwater.
Saltwater’s rootsy and richly layered sound sees producer Shane Nicholson at his best – and the album features several co-writes with folk legend Arlo Guthrie.
“I’m still pinching myself. Arlo’s pretty much my hero as far as songwriters and storytellers go,” she said.
“I asked him if he would like to collaborate with some songwriting, and never expected him to say yes, but within 15 minutes he emailed back from wherever he was in the States and said ‘yeah I’d love to’.
“And I spent the next three weeks getting over it. I was blown away.”
She will perform her Guthrie-penned songs as part of the national Diesel Tour when she performs free at Albury’s Albion Hotel from 9pm Saturday.
