A FIERCE but brief storm ripped through Corryong on Thursday afternoon, bringing low temperatures and what residents called snow in its wake.

Sunshine had preceded the extreme weather and a clear sunset followed.
Mark Collins, editor of Corryong Courier, said the storm front arrived a little before 4pm.
“It let loose with rain coming in sideways, basically,” he said. “Turned to hail, then turned to sleet. Loud thunder, bright lightning, the whole caper. It was all over within an hour.”
The snow remained on rooftops Friday morning but there have been no reports of damage from the storm.
Bureau of Meteorology duty forecaster Stephen King said an upper trough triggered afternoon storms that passed through the North East into NSW.
