Talon Peatey, 12, has seen such patients on her regular visits to Melbourne’s Royal Children’s Hospital for help with a short Achilles tendon.
“I find it sad when I see people with cancer,” she said.
She will have 35 centimetres of her 80-centimetre long red tresses chopped and donate the hair for wigs which can cost up to $6000.
Talon’s mum Kristy Parker is thrilled.
“I think it’s amazing, I’m very proud of her,” she said.
“We spend a lot of time at the children’s hospital so she sees kids who have lost their hair and she decided to do something.”
Talon is also raising money for the children’s hospital foundation, with $415 out of a $700 target generated via everydayhero.com/au/.
Her locks are slated to be cut in September with Ms Parker seeking a hairdresser to donate her time. If interested, email kristyparker43@hotmail.com.
