With big guns Darren Bradshaw and Brent Ohlin creating mayhem, the Swans controlled play from the outset to set up a clash with arch rivals Corryong in the decider.
“We played with a lot of energy and intensity,” coach Jack Neil said.
“Having the big fellas back really helped our structures and we just played a lot better across the board.
“I think we were better for the run last weekend and it was probably the best thing for us in hindsight.
“Everyone played well and that’s what you need in big matches.
“Hopefully we can back it up next weekend against Corryong.”
Ohlin, who returned to the side along with Darren and Matt Bradshaw, was sensational with three goals in the opening quarter.
Darren Bradshaw then came into the match with his bulk in one-on-one contests terrorising the Cudgewa defence.
He capped off a best-on-ground performance with eight majors.
Bradshaw has only played four matches for Federal this season, but boasts 23 goals and will carry the club’s hopes this weekend.
“The big fellas were really good for us,” Neil said.
“Having them out there made a big difference.
“Brent Ohlin started really well and then Darren got on top as well.
“Everyone got through the game OK which was pleasing.”
Danny Hales, Daniel and Nick Bond, Ash Tyrell and Mark Cole were in good form for Federal.
The ever-reliable Mitch Pynappels led Cudgewa from the front while Ben Aalbers won plenty of possessions around the ground.
Jake Vinge and Dane Arthur also tried hard for the Blues.
Coach Kiale Crowther had his moments in attack with three goals.
The loss ended Cudgewa’s impressive finals run after defeating Federal in last year’s grand final and Corryong in 2014.
Federal will regain the suspended Justin Nelson for the grand final while Jack Heiser (shoulder) and Joel Mansel (hamstring) are chances of returning.
In the reserves, Federal accounted for Bullioh by eight points.
The Swans defeated Corryong by 34 points in the under-16s and Corryong proved too strong for Tumbarumba in the under-13s.
Grand finals will be played at Corryong.
