In fact, there’s been plenty of great ones.
But few have been better than the Panther veteran’s performance against Yarrawonga in the qualifying final on Saturday.
Garland kicked three goals and provided the perfect link between the Panthers’ midfield and forward line as they ran away with a comprehensive 16.10 (106) to 5.10 (40) qualifying final victory.
“I’ve seen most of his career, the last six or eight years, and he’s going as good now as I’ve ever seen him,” Panthers coach James Saker said of Garland.
“He’s getting a lot of good support around him, that’s the other thing that can help him get off the chain, is if his teammates are working with him.
“We kicked 100-odd points and limited the opposition, that’s the way we want to play, so we’re really pleased.”
Ruckman Tom Yensch, skipper Kade Stevens and midfield bull Matt Sharp were other Panthers to impress in a ruthless performance.
