Down 16-6 following an opportunistic try to Gundagai centre Mat Rose in the 26th minute, Southcity scored five of the last six tries to overrun the Tigers in the major semi-final.
In the process, Southcity stormed into the Group Nine grand final at McDonald’s Park on September 11, leaving Gundagai to play Junee in the preliminary final at Harris Park on September 4.
“Right across the park everyone was great,” Bulls’ coach Nick Skinner said.
“The forwards, the backs, each player contributed.
”They all dug deep.
“That was the most pleasing thing.”
Gundagai played without star lock Brett Eccleston and prop Vince Brown and will be praying both are available to tackle the Diesels on Sunday.
Coach James Smart was disappointed with the Tigers ill-discipline in the second half.
Dane O’Hehir was superb.
