Cox shocked a field of the world's top mogul skiers to secure victory on day one of the championships before heavy rain and wild winds saw day two of the competition cancelled.
After placing fifth at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics, the top-ranked Australian looms as a genuine threat at the PyeongChang 2018 Games.
Cox mixed technical ability and speed as she pulled off two difficult jumps and raced down steep uneven terrain to win the first day of the two-day event at Perisher, held on one of the toughest courses in the world.
The Australian Mogul Championships had a strong international field with 17 of the world's top 25 mogul skiers competing.
“This is a fantastic event and a great field of athletes so that is very motivating,” Cox, who is ranked 18th in the world, said.
