Canberra Olympic officials will resist any temptation to shift their next game to a bigger venue after being drawn against Victorian powerhouse Green Gully.

The ACT government was prepared to start talks with the Capital Football league champions about potentially moving a game to Canberra Stadium if they secured a fixture against Melbourne City and Socceroos legend Tim Cahill.

But instead of preparing for a crowd of 10,000 or more, Olympic have their sights set on toppling nine-time Victorian champions Green Gully.

The match is the only quarter-final not to feature an A-League team, giving both teams a perfect chance to progress to the semi-finals.

Olympic are already guaranteed $5000 for making it into the quarter-finals, but they can bolster their coffers if they stay alive in the competition.

If they reach the semi-finals, Olympic will be rewarded with $10,000. But if they make the grand final they are guaranteed a minimum of $25,000, with the winner taking home $50,000.

"The hype is obviously about playing against A-League teams but at the same time there is a different sort of excitement," said Olympic coach Frank Cachia.

"I'm sure they're just as excited about playing against us because, realistically, out of all the NPL teams left, one of us is guaranteed a semi-finals spot.

"If things go to form after this round there will be A-League teams left with either us or Green Gully as the fourth team. That's a pretty big achievement.

"It's a huge carrot for the club financially but from a footballing point of view ... the benefit for the club and region is massive, we're only just coming to grips with it now."

Green Gully beat the Central Coast Mariners in the earlier stages of the competition. They boast two-time Socceroo Rodrigo Vargas and a host of former professional players in their squad.

But Olympic are unfazed about the challenge in front of them as they prepare for another home game.

It is hoped captain Angelo Konstantino will be available after he completes his duties with the Australian Futsalroos as the futsal World Cup in Colombia. The schedule will be finalised on Friday.

Olympic are also preparing for the Capital Football premier league grand final on September 11 after winning their major semi-final last weekend.

"The profile and reputation of the club has been enhanced and I don't think any of us were really prepared for it," Cachia said.

"We'll do our best to [get a date that works for Angelo] but at the end of the day we'll fall into line with whatever happens."
