Green, who visited Trinity Anglican College with Gibson on Thursday, said seeing the kids up and about fuelled their excitement.
“It's really exciting, most of the squads are being finalised,” he said.
“Spring has sprung now, cricket season is just around the corner.
“Personally, I'm really excited for the season to come around, I think we're well-placed to go back-to-back.”
Gibson said the growth of the sport had contributed to the emergence of more and more young players.
“Seeing the talent that's coming through, some of the shots kids can play are really exciting to see,” he said.
The Thunder will take on the Stars in a pre-season practice match at Lavington Oval on December 13.
