The students got a vegetable garden, soil and seedlings from Albury-Wodonga Regional FoodShare.
Principal Lisa van Noordennen said the garden box would supplement the school’s garden program.
She said children sometimes had preconceptions about food until they grew it.
“Kids who would not normally eat cauliflower were going back for five helpings when we cooked it for a science lesson,” she said.
Garden program co-ordinator Lauren Blackley said the students did the gardening in their lunch break.
“They get life skills, responsibility and pride; lifting is great for sensory needs.”
