The Service Navigation for Dementia in Rural Communities or SENDER app aims to assist carers to find relevant services in their region.
The John Richards Initiative in Rural Ageing and Aged Care at La Trobe University Albury-Wodonga now wants people to test the app and provide feedback so it can be improved.
Associate Professor Irene Blackberry, director of the initiative, said the project had similarities to a trip adviser service but also promoted networking through a chat forum.
“The idea is that people in the community and all of the service providers can then share about the experience,” she said. “This local knowledge is good to be shared with others.”
Anyone wishing to learn more about the app, launched during Dementia Awareness Month, should contact Dr Clare Wilding on c.wilding@latrobe.edu.au or 0428 557 584.
