Nikki Ward, who attends Albury High School, will compete against about 45 other finalists in the Miss Country Girl Australia competition over September 27-30.
The year 8 student had a healthy dose of nerves in the lead-up to it.
“I don’t really know what to expect, hopefully it will be good,” she said.
Her mum Carly didn’t know much about the modelling industry but said going to the competition would be a learning experience for both of them. “Around this area the photographers are excellent, I can’t fault them,” she said.
“I’m always on a shoot with her. Going into the competition is going into a bit of the unknown, I don’t know to be honest.”
The Ward family is still trying to raise money to help Nikki travel interstate to compete. To help out, visit gofundme.com/2ngm0fo.
