The school’s hospitality teacher John Walsh said Year 10 students Jarad Crichton, 16, and Ben Warhurst, 15, were pipped at the post by Swan Hill on Monday in the competition representing six school regions.
“They came a very close second and they worked really well as a team,” he said.
“We’re very proud of them because they worked hard leading up to the event and were competing against more experienced school-based apprentices.”
North East Local Learning and Employment Network structured workplace learning co-ordinator Angela Pesavento said the Murray River Culinary Challenge allowed Murray River-based high school students enrolled in Vocational Education and Training hospitality studies to test their skills.
