Chinese Medicine physician James Liu treated about 100 people at his Wodonga clinic last October, using an acupuncture point that had proved to cure or lessen the symptoms of hay fever, rhinitis and sinusitis for some.
He said the trial needed to run three years.
“Very few people had no improvement from their treatment last year; some people got instant relief,” he said.
“Hay fever is a big problem on the Border so it’s a good place to do the trial.”
Dr Liu went to China in 2012, 2013 and in May 2015 to learn about the technique from its inventor Professor Xinwu Li, an ear, nose and throat surgeon .
He said the same point could treat migraine, Meniere’s disease, Bell’s palsy, dry syndrome, glaucoma, hearing loss and snoring.
The trial will be held at Wodonga Chinese Medicine Clinic in Huon Street on October 1, 8 and 15, 8am to 2pm. Bookings essential, phone (02) 6056 1345.
