Daniel Cross has proved to be the exception.
Cross’ arrival at the Albury Sportsground has seen Polo spend more time on a half-back flank this season but the former Richmond onballer isn’t complaining.
“You see the footy up the ground and you can read the footy a bit better, so I enjoy it down there with Luke Packer and Shaun Daly and all the boys,” the 30-year-old said of his time in defence.
“With a quality player like ‘Crossy’ coming back, we just let him run around in the midfield a bit more.”
Polo is preparing for his fourth grand final, and third straight flag with the Tigers, after 77 AFL matches with Richmond and St Kilda.
“I’ve been here four years now and the longer I’m a Tiger the more it does mean to me – I’m as excited as ever,” he said.
“I’ve probably felt more at home than I ever have living in Albury. Being a Tiger and having success, and hopefully a bit more on Sunday, it means the world to me.”
