Ben and Rhiannon Hickman, of BLR Painting & Decorating, won residential (single dwelling) new work under 50K and project of the year regional residential at the Master Painters NSW awards for excellence.

The honours rewarded the Hickmans’ efforts in the Hadar Homes display houses in Maygar Avenue, White Box Rise, which involved sprayed woodwork with full gloss enamel including dado panelling.

Mrs Hickman said they had not entered the awards before and had been pleased simply to be a finalist.

From starting as a sole trader, BLR Painting & Decorating has grown to include seven employees.

“One main thing we say to our boys is we don’t care how long it takes, do it properly and do a good job,” Mrs Hickman said. “We’ve always been about quality. It has to be done right or he’ll go back and fix it until it is right.”
