On top of enjoying his best AFL season in winning the Bulldogs’ best and fairest, playing in the preliminary final and making the All Australian squad, Cross will marry long-time girlfriend Samantha Mallia at Williamstown tomorrow.
The former Albury junior met Samantha almost seven years ago when she was working in the Bulldogs’ marketing department at the Whitten Oval.
“It’s been a good year and is about to get better,” Cross said.
“Samantha worked at the club when I joined the Western Bulldogs and we have stayed in touch since.
“There are a fair few people coming up from Albury for the wedding and a lot of present and former Bulldogs players are coming along.
“It should be a good day.”
Cross’s teammate, Matthew Boyd, is in the wedding party.
The consistent on-baller will leave for his honeymoon next week and will return in time for the Bulldogs’ first official training session on November 17.
“We probably only really have two weeks off anyway because you have personal programs to get through before training gets under way,” he said.
“The boys are looking forward to next season, we came a fair way this year and hopefully it continues.
“Hopefully we can find another big bloke in the draft.”
Cross played his 100th match during the home and away season and went on to be one of the Bulldogs’ best during their finals campaign.
