WODONGA Raiders star Todd Bryant has signed with North Gippsland league club Woodside and District.
The 25-year-old fisheries officer is based in Yarram and said the 1000km round trip to play in the Ovens and Murray each weekend had taken its toll this season.
The former interleague representative played 11 matches this year as the Raiders bowed out in the first semi-final for the second straight season under Daryn Cresswell.
Bryant, who also played under Cresswell at Palm Beach Currumbin, has signed with the Wildcats as assistant coach.
“The Raiders are in great hands with ‘Crezza’,” he said.
“I’d love to still play at that level but with work, I can’t, the time just won’t allow it.
“It wasn’t ideal, especially with how the body was feeling, I was playing at 50 per cent.
“It will be good to get out and know a few people in the community down here.”
Cresswell has re-signed for a third season in charge of the Raiders but has signaled his intention to take on a director of coaching-style role from 2018.
