Kimon Taliadoris is also seen as a powerful ally in securing the Border club’s NPL future.
The nine-time Socceroo, South Melbourne legend and now FFV president will be joined by fellow Socceroo and home-grown talent Josh Kennedy at the launch of Bright Red on Wednesday and again as a special guest at a Murray United business luncheon later that day.
Taliadoris has been a champion of spreading the game into rural and regional Victoria in his short time in the job. He and Kennedy will also be joined by the head of the ACT’s Capital Football Phil Brown and Victorian National Premier League boss Liam Bentley for the events.
United's James Coutts said Bright Red was the latest development in the club’s bid to deliver a range of soccer programs to elite and community footballers throughout the year. He said a trial 10-week program had proven they were on the right track.
“Generally there is a lot of soccer and programs available during the winter months, but what we want to do is provide them throughout the year,” he said.
“Those programs will come under the Bright Red banner and include an academy, school programs and holiday clinics, while we are also looking to introduce a disability program and a girl’s academy as well.
“Our role is not only to develop talent for Murray United but to grow the game more widely here on the Border, North East and southern Riverina.”
