Brooke King, 12, took part in the School Sport Australia Combined Swimming Championships in Darwin.
Competing for NSW and vice-captain of her team, Brooke, who is hearing impaired, swam in the 10-12 years girls multiclass events.
She helped her 200m medley relay team to victory and claimed six silver medals in the 100m backstroke, 50m freestyle, 200m individual medley, 100m freestyle, 200m freestyle and 50m backstroke. Third place in the 50m butterfly rounded out her medal haul.
In five of her events, Brooke improved her times from last year’s titles in Adelaide, recording personal bests in the two backstroke races, the individual medley, butterfly and 50m freestyle.
The swimmer thanked all her family and friends who had supported her as she prepared for the School Sport Australia championships.
