NSW branch secretary Richard Olsen said it would allow owner-operators a say in when they get paid, rather than waiting 90 to 120 days.
“This has benefits of setting minimum pay rates for people carting material in NSW but has added benefits – setting when they should be paid,” he said.
“The drivers that have enjoyed these protections will be putting forward why they think rates should be set.”
Mr Olsen said the warnings about the GCCD were among a number of findings in Ms Carnell’s inquiry the TWU disputed.
“The report is not reflective of the industry, only 138 drivers took part,” he said.
“We’re looking for answers too, if they have done away with the RSRT, what is being done to replace it and we’ll do everything we can to keep this at the forefront of the minds of all politicians.”
