SIXTEEN training sessions in Melbourne over the past eight weeks have prepared four North East players for the Australian under-13 championships, which start in Perth on Thursday.

Tasman Kearney, Ella Therkildsen, Tess Palubiski and Ryan Heagney, all 13, gained selection through their performances with North East Knights and subsequent state trials.
Tess, a striker, and goal keeper Ella will play with the girls Blue and White teams respectively while striker Ryan and midfielder Tasman are both part of the boys White squad.
In Border competition, Ryan and Tess are members of Corowa-Rutherglen United, Ella plays with Scots School Albury and Tasman is a Beechworth player.
The Australian Hockey League will be held at the same time as the under-13 championships, allowing the junior competitors to meet and learn from some of the country’s best players.
With Perth considered Australia’s capital for the sport, the North East quartet is excited to be competing at a national level.
