The Wodonga Diamonds won the final 1-0 over Albury United earlier in September, however United have disputed the eligibility of four of the Diamonds’ players.
The grand final result was subsequently reversed by the AWFA's general purposes tribunal last week.
The Border Mail understands the Diamonds have taken the case to the AWFA appeals tribunal, which will sit later this week.
Association president Simon Randall confirmed the result of the final was in dispute.
“There has been a dispute over player eligibility,” he said.
“The AWFA appeals tribunal will sit before the end of this week.
“Both the Wodonga Diamonds and Albury United have been informed of the decision from the general purposes tribunal.”
