Although Cameron expects a host of challengers for the provincial title, Cameron said the reigning premier would go into round one with a good preparation.
“I think we are more organised and set up this year,” Cameron said.
“Obviously we had a change in coach just before the season last year and I just think we are more settled and the team is slightly stronger.
“We have a good core group coming out of under-16s who are ready to step up as well.
“They are knocking the door down.”
Irish recruit Aaron Gillespie will arrive at Kelly Park in coming days while promising youngster Fraser Thomas has crossed from New City and Michael Booth from Wodonga.
The Eagles will be without Zach Simmonds and Nat Sariman for the opening two Twenty20 matches of the season.
St Patrick’s has appointed former premiership player James Kreutzberger as training co-ordinator. He will take over from Pete Evans.
“It will be good to have ‘Kreutzy’ involved again,” Patties’ skipper Kane Arendarcikas said.
St Patrick’s have lost Tom Ellwood (Sydney) and Sam Stewart (overseas) but have picked up Henty’s Grant Gardiner and Grant and James Ellis.
Meanwhile, Lavington has moved to cover the departure of Jeffro Menzies (England) and Lachie Taylor-Nugent (unavailable) by picking up Brett Davies (Lake Albert).
Coach Robbie Mackinlay believes the Panthers must improve from within.
“We probably didn’t play quite as well as we could have last season and we still weren’t that far off,” Mackinlay said.
Lavington assistant Sam O’Connor has been appointed regional Cricket Albury-Wodonga district coach.
Meanwhile, Sydney Thunder will be running a camp at Bilson Park next week.
The camp will be run by the club’s qualified coaches with support from CAW players including David Tassell and Mick Galvin.
