Football Federation Victoria president Kimon Taliadoros praised this work at the launch of the club’s Bright Red Academy in Wodonga on Wednesday.
“Their success will rely on the success and growth of the game and they understand their role in leading that,” he said.
Sixty-two children attended a clinic at La Trobe as part of the academy’s goal to provide high standard programs for players of all abilities throughout the year.
“They’re not all going to be Matildas or Socceroos, but what they get out of it is great camaraderie and meeting new friends,” Taliadoros said.
Former Socceroo Josh Kennedy, who visited the clinic, said junior development needed to combine participation and representative pathways.
“Football should be there for everyone, young and old, boys and girls,” he said.
