A cross-border police chase ended in Wodonga when the alleged offender tried doing a runner on foot and was stopped by capsicum spray.

Tallangatta Sergeant Paul Brady said the pursuit began about 12pm Wednesday in NSW when police spotted a stolen car believed to have been involved in Culcairn theft crimes.
The driver did not get above the 110 km/h speed limit in his hatchback but was eventually forced to stop when police deployed stop sticks near the McKoy Street intersection.
He tried to flee on foot across the northbound lanes and onto the train line.
The man, in his late 20s, was from Queensland but had no fixed address.
“The pursuit was a fairly low-speed pursuit and he just didn’t want to stop,” Sergeant Paul Brady said.
“Vehicles were kept away from him, which allowed police to do what they had to do to stop him quite safely … if there was risk to the public then that pursuit wouldn’t have continued.”
