The 18-year-old, who’s completing year 12 at Wangaratta’s Galen College, was chuffed with the win.
She said time and effort got her over the line.
“It kind of all just came together,” she said.
“I found the fabric and then it just happened.”
Fortunately her teachers let her drop a subject so she could attend Wodonga TAFE every Thursday to study fashion design.
As for her future, Mollie was still tossing up what to do.
“I’d like to continue studying, I’m just not sure where and in what department yet,” she said.
“There’s a few courses at RMIT that I might have a look at.”
The fashion awards, which attracted international entrants including from New Zealand, focused on natural materials with only original designs.
