The app, downloaded more than 1.2 million times in six years, will now pull information from the Victoria SES and Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning, and others.
Emergency management commissioner Craig Lapsley said recent flooding events showed the need for a new, VicEmergency app.
“We will be expanding the capabilities of FireReady to include all types of emergencies,” he said.
“From November, the app will provide the community with warnings and incident notifications that are tailored to individual locations and watch zones.”
