The candidate was the only one of the seven previous councillors to nominate again.
He was asked at the Victorian Farmers Federation’s election forum to explain how he would avoid a repeat of the previous dramas, which cost the municipality almost $3 million to recover.
“We got rid of the former management team and we have a new management team now who are competent and people of integrity,” he said.
“I think I’ve already sorted the problem out … I’m a good manager – if you have a problem with that, I’m not going to change.”
