Much of Monday’s forecast rain missed the southern Riverina town with just a scattering of showers during the day not enough to dampen spirits of showgoers.
“It’s surprising the number of people who turned up considering the forecast,” show president Max Webb said. ”It’s been quite a good day considering.”
The shearing and show jumping competitions were cancelled but all other events went ahead as scheduled however numbers were down in the horse categories.
Mr Webb said sideshow alley was well supported and the pavilion competitions again proved popular with impressive displays in the floral arrangements, potted plants and children’s schoolwork sections.
“It is very pleasing, considering. There has been some very good displays in the pavilions, some of the other numbers were down a little bit but that happens,” Mr Webb said.
“We’ll come out of it alright.”
