Repair Cafe Albury-Wodonga volunteers Wolfgang and Jenni Huber fix furniture, bikes, books and clothing at the monthly Border service.
Mr Huber learned to sharpen tools during his apprenticeship as a mill builder in Switzerland.
“Unfortunately some people throw out their blunt secateurs and other garden tools, but it’s really not hard to keep your garden tools in good working order,” he said.
Mrs Huber learnt to darn as a young girl when a horse bit a hole in her dress.
“With no change of clothes my grandmother gave me a lesson in darning; for as long as I remember I’ve just mended things.”
Meet them at the library on Monday 10am-noon.
