After setting a competitive total of 147, the Rangers had the Roos on the ropes when Mick Walker took to the crease with his side at 5/48.

Teenage opener Cameron Evans weathered the top order collapse, batting 22 overs for 30 runs.

When coach Aki Murthy was brought to the crease the innings looked to be in dire straights, needing 60 runs in nine overs.

But he and Walker took the Rangers apart, rotating the strike and blasting the odd boundary to steal a sensational win.

“It was a difficult one-day innings, we were stealing singles from the keeper,” Murthy said.

“It's not everyday you can pull a heist like that, you have to enjoy it when it happens.

“We knew we had some firepower in the lower order, it was a gritty display from Mick and Cameron.”

Yackandandah will now look forward to next week's clash with Dederang.
