The Tigers appealed the O&M Independent Tribunal’s decision after Mellington was charged on video evidence with charging Lavington’s Will Lenehan in last month’s grand final.
The century goalkicker was outed for three matches, but then had a four-game suspended sentence invoked from a match while playing in the Goulburn Valley League last year.
The AFL Victoria Country Appeals Board dismissed Albury’s appeal on Tuesday night against the liability and sanction.
However, a week was reduced on the charging appeal, cutting it back to two matches, but the suspended sentence still stands.
The six-week ban will be one of the O&M’s heaviest suspensions in years.
The Tigers’ bond of $3000 will be refunded as the appeal was not found to be frivolous.
