Her son Karl, 35, was diagnosed with a rare form of peritoneal cancer.
Having been diagnosed with advanced Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in late 2010, Mrs Jacka is now in remission after a two-year battle.
More inspired than ever, her Ray White Real Estate relay team became #TeamJacka supported by Ray White.
Under the management of Karl’s sister, Andrea Lever, the team had raised a mammoth $58,000 by Friday.
“We started with a goal of $5000, then we had to adjust it to $25,000,” Mrs Jacka said.
“We didn’t adjust it again after that but we might be lucky enough to get to $60,000 by Sunday.”
A charity auction raised $31,000 while Rutherglen Football Club raffled firewood at home matches.
“My husband David and son-in-law Matt Lever went out in the freezing cold every week to cut firewood for the raffle and Rutherglen Football Club has been unbelievable,” Mrs Jacka said.
#TeamJacka has almost 90 registered members.
As the leading fundraisers, they have access to the Barlens Hire VIP campsite.
“I’m not sure they were expecting to cater for 88 but again we feel blessed to have it,” Mrs Jacka said.
Karl’s colleagues entered another #TeamJacka in the Central Murray Relay for Life.
