Southern Vale Homes, Peter Bowen Homes, Metricon, Simonds Group, GJ Gardner Homes, Hotondo Homes, JG King, Dennis Family Homes and Cavalier Homes made the Housing 100 report published by Housing Industry Association Economics.
The 23rd annual survey showed new starts in Australia increased by more than 6 per cent in 2015-16 to a record level of more than 230,000 dwellings. Metricon ranked first with 4365 starts nationwide while Simonds recorded 2621 to be sixth. The list also included franchise companies GJ Gardner (10th), Hotondo (21st) and Cavalier Homes (64th).
Southern Vale Homes, which has a Wodonga head office, placed 72nd with 184 starts, up from 77th the previous year. Peter Bowen Homes did not make the last Housing 100, but this year the Lavington-based firm placed 81st with 148 homes.
